The next local government election will be held on Saturday 9 October 2010. This is your chance to elect the members to represent you on the Rangitikei District Council.
Local government elections are held throughout the country every three years. The elections are held under the provisions of the Local Electoral Act 2001, the Local Electoral Regulations 2001 and the Local Government Act 2002.

Elections will be held for the following positions:
- Mayor (1)
- Councillors (11 in total)
- Bulls Ward (2 councillors)
- Hunterville Ward (1 councillor)
- Marton Ward (4 councillors)
- Taihape Ward (3 councillors)
- Turakina Ward (1 councillor)
- Taihape Community Board (4 members)
- Ratana Community Board (4 members)
Nominations for these positions are open between 23 July 2010 – 20 August 2010.
