Food Business Grading Bylaw

Summary of Information

Council is undertaking a review of its Food Business Grading Bylaw.

The proposal seeks feedback from the public on whether Council should continue to have the Bylaw to provide food premises with a grade or have the Bylaw revoked.

The purpose of the Bylaw is to

  • Allow the community to make informed decisions in respect to food businesses
  • Support Council’s role in monitoring food businesses.

The Draft Bylaw being consulted on has two main changes and that is the removal of the staff training and staff sickness policy requirements when it comes to grading a food business. Food businesses would still be required to comply with all national requirements that need to be met to operate.
