Bulls Community Centre

Bulls Newsletter December 2018

W&W Construction Ltd of Whanganui has been confirmed by the Rangitikei District Council as the contractor to build the new Bulls Community Centre.

Construction will start in early December and the build is expected to take around 12 months – a great Christmas present to locals in 2019!

The Centre will house a new town hall, library and information centre, town square, carpark and bus interchange.

Mayor Andy Watson said it’s a result of a lot of hard-work by a dedicated team (staff and elected members) who wanted to see this project become a reality.

He added that it’s been a long three years to get to this point and the community has every right to be proud of getting the project up and running and seeing it to fruition. Mayor Watson says the facility is likely to become an icon of Bulls and the Rangitikei and sets the bar very high for other town developments in the Rangitikei.

In August 2018 Council awarded the contract for the Bulls Community Centre to W&W Construction subject to final negotiations.

Five strategies underpin the Bulls Community Centre:

1. Create people places
2. Enhance travellers experiences
3. Provide a safe and engaging pedestrian experience
4. Reinforce Bulls as a destination
5. Slow traffic and create a safe environment

Mayor Andy Watson pushes the "go button" on Bulls Community Centre after Council deliberations in Aug 2018.
