Taihape Napier Road Closure

UPDATE 10 August: 2.30pm

Taihape Napier Road will re-open at 2.30pm. Our team have now completed the snow ploughing on Taihape Napier Road leaving the road in a safe condition for public traffic to use. Driver caution is advised due to uncertain weather conditions.


UPDATE 10 August: 1.30pm

Crews are still working clearing snow with the grader. The road will remain closed. Next update at 3pm.


UPDATE 10 August: 10am

With weather conditions improving our team is currently on the Taihape Napier road clearing snow with graders. The road will remain closed for now. Next update at 1pm.


UPDATE 10 August: 8am.

The Taihape Napier Road will remain closed due to more snow that came in the early this morning. We will have another update at 10am.


UPDATE 9 August: 3.30pm

CLOSED OVERNIGHT: Our inspectors have reported that there is still snow laying on parts of the road and it's still snowing on some sections.
As a precaution the Taihape Napier road will remain closed overnight as it is forecasted more snow showers in the evening and early morning.

We will have inspectors out to reassess the road and weather conditions tomorrow morning at 7.30am.


9 August: 1pm

The Taihape Napier Road is still closed, inspectors have reported 5 inches of snow on the road. The weather condition is still snowing.

9 August: 11am

Taihape Napier Road Closure will remain closed at this stage. There are reports of 5 to 6 inches of snow in some places and is still snowing.

The Taihape Napier Road was closed early this morning due to snow. It is likely to be closed for most of the day.

An update will be provided later this morning once the road has been reassessed.
