ANZAC Day on 25th April is the opportunity to honour and remember those that have served in the armed services or supported the country during the First and Second World Wars, as well as subsequent events such as the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

For 2023, there will be four dawn parades taking place across the Rangitīkei District as well as other services. This year Mayor Andy Watson will attend the Taihape Dawn Parade rather than Marton and will leave Deputy Mayor Dave Wilson to lead the Council at that service.

The ANZAC services will take place as follows:

  • Taihape – Dawn Service – 5.45am outside the Town Hall on Main Street

  • Marton – Dawn Service – 5.45am outside BJW Motors, Wellington Road

  • Bulls – Dawn Service – 5.50am at the Cenotaph

  • Hunterville – Dawn Service - 5.45am on the footpath outside the RSA Hall on Bruce Street

  • Mangaweka – Dawn Service - 6am on Broadway

  • Bess at Flockhouse – 9am at the Flockhouse, Parewanui Road, Bulls

  • Turakina – 10am at Turakina School

  • Marton Cenotaph – 2pm

We encourage everyone to join us in paying respects to our fallen soldiers and showing support for those who have served and continue to serve our country. Lest we forget.
