Cleaning up after a flood can be confusing as to who is responsible for what area.

If your property was affected by flood waters, here are some things you may need to know:

Did you have water come inside your house during the flood and did it reach or go over any power points? If you answered yes, then you need to get you property checked by one of our Building Team, this is important for your safety and will also be part of assisting with your insurance claims. This is only if water came into your house, if it is a shed or other building on your property, its one for the insurance company.

Wet carpets or flooring? This is one for your insurance company, please get in touch with them to find out what the process is for you. Was your septic system affected during the floods? If it was, then council needs to be notified. The septic tank needs to be serviced ( Registered service provider) and re-checked by council.

Do you have questions specific to your property? Are you unsure if it’s Council or your insurance company who you should be talking to, then give our building staff a call 0800 422 522. Due to the high volume of calls, you may have to leave a message-please make sure you leave your contact details, and we will get back to you.
