Nominations are now closed for the Community Volunteer Awards!

We are delighted to have received over 20 nominations for the Inaugural Community Volunteer Awards and look forward to announcing the winners in an award ceremony in March at Te Matapihi.

The awards recognise the people who always go above and beyond for our district, the wonderful volunteers we have in our community who have contributed significantly to the community service, welfare, sport and recreation, culture, arts and education sectors.

Mayor Andy Watson says there will be some difficult decisions to make given the calibre of nominations and the incredible work the nominees have done and continue to do in our district and he would like to thank all those who took the time to put nominations forward.

In addition to the Community Volunteer Awards that will be presented there is a special Mayor’s Recognition Award that Mayor Andy Watson will also select and present on the night.

Awardees will be engraved on an Honours Board that will be placed in the foyer of the Marton Council Offices and updated bi-annually from 2025 onwards.
