Youth Award Nominations Closing Date Extended
April 17, 2023
Rangitīkei District Council are eager to celebrate young people doing great things, whether it's in sports, apprenticeships, or giving back to the community.
The Youth Awards are open to anyone between the ages of 12 and 24, provided they have links to the Rangitīkei - whether that’s living or studying here, being involved in a local community group, or from the region and now succeeding further afield.
Sponsors have donated a $500 prize, one for each winner, with eight categories open:
Marton Rotary – Leadership
River Valley – Eco Warrior
Hautapu Pine – Youth in Sport
The Downs Group – Giving Back
New World Marton – Youth for Youth
Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Āpa – Youth in Apprenticeship
Rangitīkei Anglican Parish – Change Maker
Mahi Tahi – Youth in Employment
“This is about recognising the amazing rangatahi in our community!” said Rangitīkei District Council’s Youth Strategic Advisor, Kelly Widowson.
“Nominations close this Sunday and we really want to encourage people to get them in - anyone can make a nomination. Whether that’s for yourself, a mate recommending someone in their sports team, or an adult who has seen the hard work of a young volunteer or leader.”
More information and nominations can be made online at www.rangitikei.govt.nz/youthawards.
Nominations are open until Monday 15 May.
