Māori Ward Referendum Results

2651 voted to REMOVE the Māori Wards

2516 voted to KEEP the Māori Wards

I declare that the option to REMOVE THE MĀORI WARD has received the most votes. The poll result is binding and will apply for Rangitīkei District Council elections to be held in 2028 and 2031.


The voter return was 49.63%, being 5,451 votes, including special votes.


Elections were not required for the following positions.

Tiikeitia ki Uta (Inland) Ward (1 Vacancy)
As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Tracey Piki Te Ora HIROA is elected unopposed.


Rātana Community Board (4 Vacancies)
As the number of nominations received did not exceed the number of vacancies, Jason HIHIRA, Ruthie LAWRENCE, Charlie METE and Grace TAIAROA are elected unopposed.
