Support cyclone-hit Tararua

Dig deep to help Tararua get back on their feet through the Mayoral Relief Fund

The damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle in Tararua was extensive and widespread. The recovery will take time - and their communities need our support.

We’ve adopted Tararua as a part of Local Government New Zealand’s Adopt A Community programme, and opened our Mayoral Relief Fund for donations.

The Cyclone has had a huge impact on coastal and remote communities including Ākitio and Herbertville, extensively damaged roading networks and infrastructure, devastated productive farming land, made it hard to get stock on and off farms and impacted the businesses who service rural and coastal communities.

With the recovery bill expected to top $100 million - we want to direct support where it’s needed the most.

Donations can be made to the RDC Mayoral Relief Fund via account 03-1522-00114966-000. Donations are asked to include the reference ‘2023 Cyclone’.
