Bulls' drinking water network has undergone a series of upgrades to ensure it continues to provide a safe, reliable water supply for the growing community.

The project was triggered after the town's historic water tower was identified as earthquake prone. Rather than simply replacing the tower, Council took the opportunity to modernise the wider water supply network and improve its resilience for the future.

Between 2019 and 2021, a new treated water reservoir and rising main were constructed to improve storage capacity and strengthen the connection between the water treatment plant and the town's reticulation network.

The final stage of the project is the construction of a new booster pump station. Once complete, it will allow the new reservoir to operate as originally intended by providing the pressure needed to meet both drinking water and firefighting standards.

The new pump station will also allow the older Trickers Road reservoirs to be retired, reducing reliance on ageing infrastructure while improving the overall performance of the water supply network.

The upgraded infrastructure has been designed to improve water security, meet firefighting requirements and accommodate future growth within Bulls.
