Flushing Continues on Marton’s Water Supply

November 25, 2015

Some Marton residents may be experiencing water that looks dirty.

Chlorine levels have been increased to meet the new standards for drinking water, and this has caused some of the normal build-up on the inside of the water pipes to be dislodged. While the water may look murky it is completely safe to drink.

Council staff are continuing to flush the pipes to get this residue out of the network, but it may take some time for it to be completely clear.

Anyone noticing dirty water should run their outside tap until the water comes through clear. If you have concerns about your water please ring the Council on 06 327 0099 or 0800 422 522.
