Ngā Awa Block Maintenance

Maintenance work is taking place on the public toilet and shower facilities of the Nga Awa Block from Monday 13 April until Wednesday 22 April. During this time, the referee changing rooms will be available for use between the hours of 6:00am and 9:00pm.

Bulls’ residents will be ‘hoofing it’ to the 7 Day Makeover, starting Monday, February 1.

The 7 Day Makeover will kick-off with two days, Monday and Tuesday, February 1 and 2 at the Bulls Town Hall Supper Rooms.

During these two days participants will (led by David Engwicht) learn the secrets of creating great spaces and develop a plan of projects to be completed during the 7 Day Makeover. These two sessions both start at 9am – sign up at www.7day.com.au.

Also on Tuesday night, February 2 with a 7 pm start, there will be a planning night in the Supper Rooms where you will hear about the proposed makeover plan, contribute your ideas and be invited to lead or join a Makeover Team. The rest of the week will be spent completing the projects!

Talk around town has been mostly about the new joint venture multi-purpose Community Centre to be constructed on the site of the former Criterion Hotel, but for a least a week, residents and business owners have the opportunity to focus on “place-making” projects.

The new Community Centre is just one part of the Bulls Town Centre Plan which aims to enhance travellers’ experience of Bulls, provide a safe and engaging pedestrian experience, reinforce Bulls as a destination, slow traffic and create a safe environment.

Another, and equally important part of reaching these goals is “place-making” where small, community-led projects create inviting, community-focused spaces. David Engwicht, who provided his technical expertise to the community in the development of the Town Centre Plan, will again be supporting the community for the-7 Day Makeover of public places in Bulls.

7 Day Makeovers are low cost community actions investing in towns with the enlivening of public and privately-owned spaces in cooperation with the property owners.

Everyone who is interested in creating great public spaces is welcomed to get involved at any time.
