Mangaweka Bridge Closure 5th-20th October 2016

The Manawatu and Rangitikei District Councils advise that they will impose a bridge closure for 15 consecutive days from 5th to 20th October, inclusive. The closure will be a full closure day and night, including weekends. The closure is required to replace the timber deck structure at the both ends of the bridge, for a length of 7m either end. Alternative routes across the Rangitikei River include Otara Road to the south and Toe Toe Road to the north. Both of these alternative routes are rated as Class 1. The temporary weight restriction on the Mangaweka Bridge will be lifted after the repairs have been completed. However, as yet it is uncertain what weight will be allowed. This will be determined through further inspections to be carried out during the course of the repairs. We will advise the final weight allowed by 20 October.
