Otara Bridge

Strength testing of Otara Bridge was completed on Monday and Tuesday. Rangitīkei District Council and Manawatū District Council are now awaiting a detailed report from the bridge engineers, which will help inform the next steps for the bridge. Read more here.

Marton Park Reserve Management Plan

The Marton Park Management Plan has recently been developed in conjunction with the community and was approved by Council on 3 November 2016. The Marton Park Management Plan provides the vision, objectives and a site plan for the future development of Marton Park. The consultation process consisted of written submissions, three Park Walks and a workshop. The majority of submissions supported the draft Plan. Community-led project groups were established, with group leaders as follows:

  • CCTV - Cath Ash
  • Toilets, drinking fountain - Sharon Galpin
  • Fernery - Lynne Sheridan
  • Cultural Pou - Nardia Gower
  • Lighting of paths, trees and plants - Barry Williams
  • Maunder and Oxford Street upgrades - Lynne Sheridan
  • Tui Trail - Lynne Sheridan
  • Fitness circuit/stations - Nardia Gower
  • Paint white fence - Andy Watson
  • Volleyball (somewhere in town) - Andy Watson
  • ANZAC Memorial Walkway - Barry Williams
  • Seating for rugby fields - Nigel Belsham
  • Information boards - Cath Ash
