Nominations for the Rangitikei District Council elections closed at midday today. As there were no other Mayoral nominations Andy Watson retains his position of Mayor of the Rangitikei District for the next three years.

Andy said “I am delighted to be Rangitikei’s Mayor for another term. We have so many projects that have been started and I want to see progress over the next few years.

I want to acknowledge and thank the current Council for the work they have done and in particular those Councillors who elected not to stand again. Councillors Lynne Sheridan, Dean McManaway, Ruth Rainey, Richard Aslett, Soraya Peke-Mason and Graeme Platt have decided not to seek re-election. Some brave decisions have been made during the last term to progress projects across the District, including the commencement of the new Bulls Community Centre and I look forward to progressing the Marton Civic Centre and Taihape Memorial Park amenities project with the new Council.”
