Installation of concrete storage tanks

Just prior to the weather ‘bomb’ that recently came through our district, we brought forward planned works to install concrete storage tanks on Council land between the existing pump station and the Hautapu river. Due to the impending impact from this weather event, and mindful of recent sewerage issues, we decided to act urgently to ensure no further spills went into the Hautapu River.

These tanks are a temporary solution while a permanent solution is being designed and installed, which is expected to be about two years. Please accept our apologies for the lack of notice with the installation of these tanks, we were working to a tight timeframe to beat the unfavourable weather event that was expected.

Over the next few months Council will be tidying up this area and putting some planting in place. We would love to discuss this with you to ensure the planting and remediation is aligned as best we can to community expectations.
