Due to current Covid-19 Level 2 restrictions in our district, the Rangitīkei Youth Awards have been postponed.

A new date will be announced once restrictions have been lifted.


The John Turkington Forestry Rangitīkei Youth Awards 2020 – is now open for nominations.

Do you know a young person or a group of youth aged between 12 and 24 that are exceptional... Of course you do!

Anyone can nominate a young person for an award. To be eligible for an award, nominees must:

  • Be affiliated to and contributed to the Rangitīkei District in the last 12 months
  • Have participated in the activities they have been nominated for within the past 12 months
  • Have participated in activities they were nominated for outside of their regular study or work commitments
  • Be aged between 12 and 24 at the beginning of Youth Week 2020

The winner of each category gets $500 cash from one of our incredible sponsors. Awards will be made in some or all of the following categories:

Fortuna Forest Products Youth In Employment
For young people who have made a significant contribution to their employment, industry sector and/or have demonstrated significant professional growth

Marton Rotary Leadership
For young people who have demonstrated leadership in a project or organisation

River Valley Eco Warrior

For young people who have created a positive change for local environmental issues

Hautapu Pine Youth In Sport

For young people who have created a positive and inclusive culture, supported other young people or been an exceptional representative of the district within their sport

The Downs Group Giving Back

For young people whose actions addressed a current need and have had a significant impact on the community

New World Marton Youth For Youth

For young people whose actions specifically supported other young people in areas such as (but not limited to) the arts, culture, environment or sport

Fortuna Forest Products Youth Group

For a group of young people who have made a significant contribution to their community in areas such as (but not limited to) the arts, culture, environment or sport

Ngā Wairiki Ngāti Apa Youth In Apprenticeship

For young people who have shown dedication, commitment and achieved success with their apprenticeship

BJW Motors Change Maker

For young people who have created a positive change to foster cultural understanding in their community

Rangitīkei Anglican Parish Wairua for Well-being

For young people or a group of young people who significantly contributed to the cultivation of wairua and/or the holistic well-being of other young people in the area
