Dawn Service and Parade information for our District.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force will be holding a flyover circuit of the region in a Spitfire, Grumman Avenger and two Texans. They will take off from Ōhakea at 9.40am to begin the circuit, flying across Manawatū, Palmerston North, Rangitīkei and Whanganui before returning to base at 11am.


Here are some of the Anzac services available in the Manawatū and Rangitīkei districts:

Sanson: Sanson School, State Highway 1, meet at 9.15am at the front gate of the school, 9.30am march to the cenotaph, 9.45am ode and flag, 9.50am flypast by Royal New Zealand Air Force, 10am civic service. Light refreshments will be provided at 10.30am. Flyover 9.50am.

Turakina: Turakina School, service at 10am.

Apiti Returned and Service’s civic service: 10 Makoura Rd, attendees to gather at 9.45am. Flyover 10.12am.

Hunterville dawn service: Bruce St, attendees to meet 5.45am for service at 6am. Flyover 10.18am.

Mangaweka dawn service: 6am at the Assembly of God Church

Marton dawn parade and civic service: Parade begins 5.40am outside BJW motors, marching towards the Marton RSA and Citizens Memorial Hall, Wellington Rd, for dawn at 6am, light refreshments will be provided. A civic service will be held at 2pm at Marton Park Cenotaph. Attendees should be assembled by 1.55pm. Fly over 10.38am.

Halcombe: Corner of State Highway 1 and High St, the road will be closed from 10am to 12.30pm, attendees are welcome to march from the rugby clubrooms from 10.30am to the cenotaph for service at 10.40am.

Feilding RSA: 84 Aorangi St, assemble Feilding Civic Centre at 6am, Bowen St, march to Cenotaph at 6.20am, service begins at Feilding Cenotaph at 6.30am. Following the parade, attendees are invited to a $5 cooked breakfast catered by the Feilding Cadet Unit’s support team at the Feilding RSA. Flyover 10.45am.

Bulls Returned and Service's dawn parade: 54 High St, RSA club to open at 5am for tea and coffee before attendees gather at the cenotaph at 5.50am for the service at 6am. Attendees are invited to a $5 cooked breakfast at the RSA following the service, children eat free. Flyover 10.50am.

Bess WW1 Horse Memorial Service: ANZAC Day service to honour and commemorate Bess and other horses who served in our forces. Service at Forest Road, Bulls at 9am followed by light refreshments.

Taihape dawn parade and civic service: Taihape Town Hall, 5.45am. Attendees are invited to the Workingmen’s Club for breakfast following the service.

Kimbolton dawn observance: 356 Rangiwahia Rd, Morunga – The Oratory begins 6.30am. This will be followed by breakfast, tea and coffee.
