Appeal for Taihape residents to conserve water

July 30, 2021

UPDATE: 3pm Friday

Council has extended the conserve water request for Taihape residents until midnight Monday 2 August.

The urgent appeal to use less water is needed to help the water reservoir have time to refill while work is undertaken at the Water Treatment Plant.

Another update will be provided on Monday.

Recent high rainfall has made the water treatment at the Taihape Water Treatment Plant process more challenging.

With the river turbidity levels changing frequently at the Plant, this is hampering the ability to consistently make sufficient water to meet daily demand and fill the reservoir.

We ask Taihape residents to conserve water for the next 48 hours (from Wednesday 28 July) to give the reservoir a chance to refill.

The situation is expected to improve over the next two days and we will provide an update on Friday 30 July if the water conservation request needs to be extended.
