Major banks in New Zealand including ANZ, BNZ and Westpac have announced they will phase out cheques this year.

From 28 May 2021 Rangitīkei District Council will stop accepting payments by cheque.

Customers who rely on cheques to make payments will need to use an alternate payment option.

For regular payments, like rates, it’s easiest to set up a direct debit payment. We can help you set up your payments. You can make your payments weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or annually.

You can also use our Rates Payment Online service and pay using your credit card at or alternatively pay by eftpos at our any of customer service desks.
