We’re developing a Parks, Open-Spaces and Sporting Facilities Strategy to inform the direction we move in for the next 30-years.

Why develop a strategy?

We develop strategies to assist the decisions we make on future projects. We also use strategies to compare projects when faced with competing demands and budget frameworks. It allows us prioritise and separate ‘wants’ from ‘needs’.

The strategy will help us respond to community needs for parks, open-spaces, active recreation and sporting facilities while maximising the social, economic and environmental benefits they provide.

Why is this important?

Our parks, open spaces and sporting facilities contribute to making this place home and we value the role they play in our connection with our natural environment. We want to improve these spaces so they can continue to benefit the physical and mental wellbeing of our communities as the district grows and changes.

How can I be involved?

If you are part of a local community interest group then you may have already received a survey or phone call. Township consultation will take place soon. Keep an eye on the website or sign up to our database to keep in touch.
