Recent Weather Event Causes Damage To Roads

On the evening of 17 May 2022, exceptionally heavy rain in the central area of the District caused flooding, landslides and trees to fall onto the road.

The affected roads include:

  • Turakina Valley Road 2 and 3
  • Ongo Road
  • Pohonui Road
  • Watershed Road
  • Portorino Road
  • Ohaumoko
  • Agnes Road
  • Mt Curl Road
  • Ngaruru Road
  • Makahou Road
  • Mangahoe Road

Extensive damage was caused to recently repaired pavement along Mangahoe Road.

All roads are now open however Mangahoe and Watershed Roads are suitable for four wheel vehicles only.

Please plan your journey accordingly to avoid delays and stay safe on our roads. If you see any issues that Council may need to be made aware please fill in our Report It Form or phone 0800 422 522.
