List of Planned Road Closures
Below is a list of planned road closures in the Rangitīkei District:
Temporary Closure of Makirikiri Road Rail Crossing Marton
Purpose: To allow KiwiRail to undertake repairs to the track and crossing.
Date & Time: From 7am till 7pm on Sunday 8 March 2026 and 7am till 7pm Monday 16 March.
Rangitīkei District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a portion of Makirikiri Road, Marton will be closed for two separate days from 7.00am till 7.00pm on Sunday 8 March 2026 and 7.00am till 7.00pm Monday 16 March to allow KiwiRail to undertake repairs to the track and crossing.
A portion of Makirikiri Road from State Highway 1 to Goldings Line will be closed for all vehicular traffic. Detours will be in place.
Rangitīkei District Council regrets any inconvenience caused.
