List of Planned Road Closures

Below is a list of planned road closures in the Rangitīkei District:

Intention to close road to Vehicular Traffic

Purpose: Purpose of permitting Hunterville Lions Club to have the Hunterville Christmas Parade.

Date & Time: Thursday the 24th December 2026

PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the Rangitīkei District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting Hunterville Lions Club to have the Hunterville Christmas Parade on Thursday the 24th December 2026.

Roads to be closed

Bruce Street - 4.00pm to 5.00pm
from State Highway 1 to Paraekaretu Street.

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday the 16th of October 2026, at the office of the Rangitīkei District Council, Private Bag 1102, Marton 4741.

Should the Rangitīkei District Council decide to close the said roads, a public notice shall be given.

Temporary Closure of Otara Bridge

Purpose: For survey work to be conducted

Date & Time: Monday 28 September and Tuesday 29 September

Rangitīkei District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, Otara bridge, on Otara Road, will be closed between the hours of 7.00am and 5.00pm on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 September 2026 while bridge surveys are undertaken.

Please use alternative routes during this time. All current restrictions continue to apply until notified otherwise.

Intention To Close Road To Vehicular Traffic

Purpose: Permitting The Shemozzle Group to host The Hunterville Shemozzle

Date & Time: Saturday 31st October 2026

PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the Rangitīkei District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting The Shemozzle Group to host The Hunterville Shemozzle on Saturday 31st October 2026.

Roads to be closed - 4.30am till 7.30pm

Bruce Street – from State Highway 1 through to Waitipapa Road

Paraekaretu Street – in its entirety

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday 21st August 2026 at the office of the Rangitīkei District Council, Private Bag 1102, Marton 4741.

Should the Rangitīkei District Council decide to close the said roads, a public notice shall be given.

Intention To Close Road To Vehicular Traffic

Purpose: Permitting The Ultimate Rally Group Ltd to hold the Silver Fern Rally 2026 event.

Date & Time: Thursday the 3rd of December 2026

Pursuant to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, notice is hereby given that, the Rangitīkei District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting The Ultimate Rally Group Ltd to hold the Silver Fern Rally 2026 event (Stages of) on Thursday the 3rd of December 2026.

Roads to be closed:

Stage 35 WATERSHED ROAD
Proposed Road Closures: 10:10am-2:40pm

From 282 Watershed Road to the intersection of Wairepu East and West Roads.
Koraenui Road and Te Kumu Road (both no exits) will also be closed.

Stages 36 & 37 POHONUI ROAD/TURAKINA VALLEY ROAD
Proposed Road closures: 12.35 pm-5.55pm

Pohonui Road From the intersection of Okaka Road/ Huia Road and Koeke Road to Turakina Valley Road.
From the intersection of Turakina Valley Road and Pohonui Road to the intersection with Okaka Road.
Taheke Road, Mataiponga Road and Locks Road (all no exits) will also be closed.

Stage 38 TURAKINA VALLEY ROAD: LEG 2
Proposed Road Closures : 1.25pm-5.55pm

Turakina Valley Road from the intersection of Okaka Road to the Ruapehu Council Boundary.
Bald Hill Road, Hales Road and Kaimatawi Road (all no exits) will also be closed.
Ruanui Road, Waiaruhe Road and Owhakura will all be no exit roads onto Turakina Valley Road.

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday 5th June 2026 at the office of the Rangitīkei District Council, Private Bag 1102, Marton 4741.

Should the Rangitīkei District Council decide to close the said roads, a public notice shall be given.
