List of Planned Road Closures

Below is a list of planned road closures in the Rangitīkei District:

INTENTION TO CLOSE ROAD TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

Purpose: For the purpose of permitting Hunterville Lions Club to have the Hunterville Christmas Parade

Date & Time: Wednesday 24th December 2025

PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the Rangitīkei District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting Hunterville Lions Club to have the Hunterville Christmas Parade on Wednesday 24th December 2025.

Roads to be closed - 4.00 pm to 5.30 pm

  • Bruce Street, from SH1 to Paraekaretu Street, Hunterville.

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00pm, Friday 7th November 2025, at the office of the Rangitīkei District Council, Private Bag 1102, Marton 4741.

Should the Rangitīkei District Council decide to close the said roads, a public notice shall be given.

INTENTION TO CLOSE ROAD TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

Purpose: Permitting the Kiwi Burn Festival 2026

Date & Time: Tuesday 20th January 2026 till Monday 26th January 2026.

PURSUANT to Traffic (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, the Rangitīkei District Council intends to consider closing the roads as listed below for the purpose of permitting the Kiwi Burn Festival 2026 from Tuesday 20th January 2025 till Monday 26th January 2026.

Roads to be closed

  • Cooks Road, Hunterville

Any person objecting to the proposals is called upon to lodge notice of his/her objection and grounds thereof in writing, before 4.00 pm, Friday 5th of December 2025, at the office of the Rangitīkei District Council, Private Bag 1102, Marton 4741.

Should the Rangitīkei District Council decide to close the said roads, a public notice shall be given.

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

Taihape - Napier Road

Purpose: To allow Downer to complete pavement stabilisation works.

Date & Time: 2 February – 7 February 2026 (between 6am and 6pm daily)

Rangitikei District Council wishes to advise that PURSUANT to Section 342 (b) and the Tenth Schedule of the Local Government Act 1974, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a portion of Taihape-Napier Road will be closed to all traffic between the hours of 6.00am to 6.00pm daily from Monday 2 February to Saturday 7 February 2026 (inclusive) to allow Downer to complete pavement stabilisation works..

  • Properties to Rapid No. 4545 Taihape - Napier Road will only have access from Taihape.
  • Properties after Rapid No. 4929 Taihape - Napier Road will only have access from Napier /Hastings.
  • The road closure location is 49km from the intersection of Spooners Hill Road on the Taihape side.
  • The road closure location is 75km from the Intersection of State Highway 50 (Korokipo Road) at Omahu.
  • The road will be open with restrictions between the hours of 6.00pm and 6.00am.
