New to Rangitīkei
Whether you've moved across the country, across the world or simply across the district, welcome to Rangitīkei. We love it here, and we think you will too.
Rangitīkei is a place of rolling farmland, dramatic river valleys, character-filled towns and close-knit rural communities. Our five main townships are Taihape, Mangaweka, Hunterville, Marton and Bulls. Each have their own personality, but wherever you choose to call home, you won't be far from friendly faces and a strong sense of community.
We're proud of our rural roots and the traditions that make Rangitīkei a little different. This is a district where you'll find some of the country's finest shearers and sheepdog trialists, where throwing a gumboot is taken surprisingly seriously, and where community events still bring entire towns together.
But settling into somewhere new takes time. That's why we've brought together useful information to help you find your feet.
From Council services and local facilities to community organisations and ways to get involved.
Clubs, churches, sports groups and community organisations are great places to meet people and become part of local life. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself, as this place is at its best when you get involved.
So settle in, explore your new surroundings and discover what makes this place special.
Welcome home. Welcome to Rangitīkei.
