Commemorating Waitangi Day Fund

August 14, 2015

In 2016, the government's annual Commemorating Waitangi Day Fund will again support events that commemorate the signing of the Treaty and promote nation and community building.

In previous years, the Commemorating Waitangi Day Fund has given communities the chance to commemorate Waitangi Day in their own way, on marae and riverbanks, in civic squares, in community halls and on the sports field.

You can apply to the fund for events that are themed on the commemoration of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, and that:

  • promote nation and community building;
  • encourage wide community participation;
  • promote a cultural experience; and
  • take place on or near Waitangi Day (6 February).

Applications for grants for next year's Waitangi Day events close on Monday 21 September 2015.
