Resource Management Planner – a unique opportunity

Do you want an opportunity as the sole resource consent planner to diversify your experience? Rangitīkei District is the place to achieve that. A Resource Management Planner position has become available within the Environmental and Regulatory Team. This position is based in Marton. We are open to considering flexible hour preferences, including working from home.

We are looking for the Resource Management Planner to provide efficient and effective administration and implementation of Council's statutory obligations under the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, Reserves Act and other standards relevant to planning and resource management. Rangitīkei is experiencing growth, particularly in residential and industrial developments, and you will be instrumental in facilitating this through your thorough understanding of the District Plan and your positive approach to issues. The Council wishes to take a more proactive stance in monitoring consents and you will be expected to develop and manage this function.

What you will bring to the position:

  • Sound understanding of strategic thinking and demonstrated application to practical solutions
  • Sound understanding of the local government legislative framework
  • Strong networking and consultative approach allowing development and maintenance of strong working relationships
  • Tertiary level Planning Qualification or other relevant discipline
  • 2 years + experience resource planning in either Local Government or other relevant organisation

This position will mentor the Resource Consent Technician and provide substantial input into Council-initiated changes to the District Plan.
