The Role
Are you someone who wants to make a difference to the economic wellbeing of the Rangitīkei?
You will have a collaborative and inclusive style, with outstanding communication skills which enable you to be effective at influencing and managing relationships to achieve results.
In this role you will help shape the future of our District! You’ll be able to see the big picture as well as implement our town centre revitalisation initiatives.
As a key contact for our business owners and developers, you’ll be on the ground providing valuable support and guidance to help them explore opportunities to become established or to expand within our district.
You will also be a key part of our Strategy team, ensuring our organisation has a strong strategic focus on economic wellbeing.
This is a full-time permanent role and based in our main office in Marton. However, travel throughout the district will be required as part of your role.
What you'll do
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies and work plans associated with town centre revitalisation and economic wellbeing.
- Proactively develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders that have a role in the district’s town centres and business community, including iwi, and primary industry.
- Work with regional and national organisations to influence and facilitate the implementation of strategic initiatives that enhance economic growth and development in the Rangitīkei, including Whanganui & Partners, MBIE and Tourism New Zealand.
- Act as the key contact for business owners and developers who wish to explore opportunities to establish or expand business in the Rangitīkei district.
- Work collaboratively within Council to ensure that town centre, business support and economic wellbeing activities and initiatives are integrated across all Council functions and priorities.
What you will bring
- Degree in business, marketing, project management, or a related discipline and / or a minimum of five years’ experience in a related field
- Strong networking skills and a consultative approach
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects
- Self-motivated, proactive and organised
- Flexible, with an ability to work outside of usual business hours, where required
- Able to think strategically, be solution focused and deliver
- Personal resilience and an ability to effectively manage competing demands.
