Senior/Strategy Advisor

As our Senior Strategy Advisor, you will be involved in the implementation and ongoing development of Council’s strategic framework, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, legislative requirements, and community aspirations. You will build strong internal and external relationships, including with iwi partners, elected members, and the wider community.

This is a permanent role; however, we could be flexible with hours and location for the right candidate.
He aha te mahi| What you will do
- Lead the implementation and review of Council's strategic framework
- Lead the development and review of Council’s key strategic documents
- Lead community engagement and consultation processes
- Provide advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Council
- Develop policy positions, submissions, and advice on matters of strategic importance to Council
- Enhance Council’s partnership with iwi and demonstrate a clear understanding of the intent of, and commitment to, the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Ko wai to Pukeka| What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in public policy, planning, political science, or a related discipline
- Experience in strategy development, policy planning, or a related advisory role. Ideally this role is suited for a senior level (5+ years experience), but could be rescoped for someone with less experience
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to resolve complex problems and provide strategic insight
- Knowledge of local government processes and key legislation
- Demonstrated experience with undertaking effective engagement
