Potential flooding in Turakina and Whangaehu areas

UPDATE: 5pm Saturday 28 January

We've been advised the Whangaehu is unlikely to flood. It is now expected to peak at 8.3m at Kauangaroa. However, please monitor MetService New Zealand for up-to-date information.


Due to current rain fall there is potential for the Turakina and Whangaehu rivers to reach flood levels tomorrow morning - Sunday 29 January 2023.

Farmers are advised to move stock to higher ground.
