ANZAC Day Services 2024

ANZAC Day on 25th April is the opportunity to honour and remember those that have served in the armed services or supported the country during the First and Second World Wars, as well as subsequent events such as the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

For 2024, there will be four dawn parades taking place across the Rangitīkei District as well as other services.

The ANZAC services will take place as follows:

  • Marton – Dawn Service and Service – 5.40am outside BJW Motors, Wellington Road.
    Participants to meet by 0540hrs outside BJW Motors in Wellington Road, Marton, where the RSA Parade Marshal will “fall in” the Parade and instruct us to march off in due course, to arrive on the forecourt of Marton RSA and Memorial Hall in Wellington Road by 0600, when the formal service will begin.
    All participants are encouraged to join us in the hall immediately afterwards for fellowship, savoury snacks and a hot drink.
    There will be several short addresses; including our local MP Suze Redmayne, the Mayor Andy Watson, and Guest Speaker Colonel (Ret) Bede Fahey.
  • Taihape - Dawn Parade and Service – 5.45am opposite Town Hall.
    Taihape and District RSA will host the Dawn Parade and Service. Members of the RSA are to form up opposite the Town Hall at 5.45 am, medals to be worn. Service organisations, schools and members of the public are welcome to march with the parade and attend the service. Any one attending the parade may wear the medals of deceased relatives on their right breast. Service Organizations, Clubs, Schools and members of the public who wish to lay a wreath at the Service are to contact Russ Levy on 027 466 8393 to have their name added to the list of wreaths to be laid. At the conclusion of the service all those attending are invited to the Workingmen’s Club for breakfast.
  • Turakina Cenotaph – 10am at Turakina School.
  • Marton Cenotaph – 2pm – Wreath-laying ceremony at Marton Park.
  • Bulls – Dawn Service – 5.45am at the Cenotaph
    Meeting outside the RSA on High Street about 5.45am, the parade will start just prior to 6am with the service starting at 6am. Meet n Greet with everyone inside the RSA Bulls - Annual breakfast for $10 a plate.
  • Bess at Bulls – 9am up the hill at the Bess memorial on Forest Road.
  • Hunterville – Dawn Service - 5.50am on the footpath outside the RSA Hall on Bruce Street
    Fall in - Hunterville RSA Bruce Street Hunterville at 5.50am
    Tea, Coffee etc. at RSA Hall after service followed by breakfast at Station Hotel from 7.30am
