Otara Bridge Update - Tuesday, 23 January 2024

We know it's been a while since there's been an update on the Otara Bridge repairs, but we're please to tell your that progress is being made and a new phase of the project is about to get started!

Riverside Construction Ltd. were granted the contract for the repairs in October 2023, and since then they have been constructing components.

Work on installing these components is due to start on site on Tuesday, 13 February, with an approximate completion date of Tuesday, 30 April.

This means there will be scheduled closures of the bridge between 9:00am and 3:00pm during this time period, which will still allow mail to be delivered and school picks up and drops offs to happen unaffected.

The following restrictions continue to apply:

  • Weight limit of six tonnes and speed limit posted on the bridge.
  • One vehicle to cross the bridge at a time.
  • Vehicles to travel central to the bridge.

Dates and times of closures will be advertised in advance via our website, social media, local newspapers and radio stations, and electronic signage. Letter drops to residents will also continue as they have done previously.
