Rubbish and recycling one step closer for Rangitikei urban centres

November, 2018

Rangitikei District Council today took another step closer to introducing a rubbish and recycling service in all urban areas across the district.

Council will now ask for Expressions of Interest from service providers before making a final decision on what service will be provided, to what areas, and cost to ratepayers.

Consultation returned fairly even results across the board, with no clear “line in the sand” making the decision far from straightforward for Councillors.

The decision to proceed was a mixed one from Councillors, with some expressing concerns about the cost to ratepayers, while other Councillors encouraged leadership in this area.

Councillor Gordon in particular, said proceeding with kerbside rubbish and recycling was "the right thing to do".
