The newly elected 2019 Council
Elections were held on 12 October 2019 for the Rangitikei District Council Mayor, Councillors, and Taihape and Ratana Community Boards. Voter turnout was 46.79%, being 4,818 votes, which was slightly down on the 2016 election turnout. Councillors were sworn in at the Inaugural Council meeting on Thursday, 24 October.
Six new Councillors were elected, they were: from the Northern Ward – Gill Duncan, Tracey Hiroa; Central Ward – Fi Dalgety, Richard Lambert; Southern Ward – Brian Carter, Waru Panapa.
Returning Councillors are: from the Northern Ward – Angus Gordon; Central Ward – Nigel Belsham, Dave Wilson and Cath Ash; Southern Ward – Jane Dunn.
No election for Mayor was required as Mayor Andy Watson was returned unopposed.
Community Board, Community Committees
The Taihape Community Board were also elected unopposed, members are Ann Abernethy, Emma Abernethy, Michelle Fannin and Gail Larsen.
The Ratana Community Board members are Charlie Mete, Jamal Nepia, Charlie Rourangi and Lequan Meihana.
