Citizenship

Ready to make it official and become a New Zealand citizen? To start the process, simply get in touch with the Department of Internal Affairs - New Zealand Citizenship Office. You can reach them by phone on 0800 225 151.

Once your application is complete, the New Zealand Citizenship Office will work with us to organise a Citizenship Ceremony. This public ceremony is a special occasion where you'll stand before the Mayor or another official, take the Oath or Affirmation of Allegiance, and receive your citizenship certificate.

Becoming a citizen in a public ceremony is a meaningful milestone, not only for you but also for our tight-knit community. It's a chance for you to publicly declare your allegiance to New Zealand, and for us to warmly welcome you on behalf of all New Zealanders.

Remember, we're here to support you throughout this entire process. If you have any questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Mayor, one of our elected members, or your local MP.
