Planned Works

The major works planned during May/June are:

Mangahoe Road – this project is approximately 95% complete, the extension of a culvert is still to be done; expect minor delays.

Ratana Road – area wide treatment work starts in June and is scheduled to be completed in July; expect minor delays.

Swan Street slip repair project is about to commence. Higgins have been awarded this contract, which will take about 3 months to complete. During this period there will be traffic management in place, which will require at times road closures depending on the relevant stage of the wall construction. Diversions will be in place and will be clearly sign posted. The hours of work are 7.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday. When the site is unmanned the road closures will be lifted but speed restrictions will be still in place. Swan Street will be available for light vehicles only. There will also be project signs erected with contact details on the reverse side of the signs.

Chorus is currently laying the fibre optic cable network (UFB) in Marton. Work started in at the north end of Marton and is heading toward the south end of town. The area being worked on is in the footpath and grass berms. Contractors are backfilling excavations as the work progresses, the public are asked to take care around the areas being work on.
