Draft Revenue and Financing Policy
Rangitīkei District Council is consulting on the proposed Schedule of Fees and Charges.
The Policy
When setting the Rates, Levies, Fees and Charges Council balances a range of considerations including the most appropriate mix of funding for each of its activities. The Revenue and Financing Policy outlines this funding mix for each of Council’s activities. The Revenue and Financing Policy includes: Part A: Council’s General Principles for revenue and funding management. Part B: an overview of how Council will fund its services. This includes whether an activity is funded by rates (and what type of rates), fees and charges, external sources.
Proposed Changes to the Revenue and Financing Policy
- Part A of the policy has been updated to refer to the principles of the preamble of the Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993.
- Other minor changes have been made to Part A to reflect the uncertain nature of external grants recieved by Council.
- In Part B the relative split in funding sources for some activities has been updated.
- A new key has been created for the matrix in Part B.
- A new Appendix 1 has been attached.
